Christmas Eve
We had a nice, simple, quiet Christmas Eve at my parents house.  It was only us, my parents, and my grandparents.  We had a blast playing the Wii, decorating cookies for Santa, having a nice dinner (lasagna), and watching Elf while my mom and gramps did a puzzle.  We checked for Santa on Norad (thanks for the suggestion Amy) before bed and Santa was on his way, so a very excited Maddie rushed to bed and with anxiety prayed that Santa wouldn't come tonight because she wasn't asleep yet and she didn't want him to skip her house.

"A Christmas Story" puzzle that my uncle Bart sent my dad for Christmas.  Best present he has sent yet, the life size "leg lamp" they put in their window during the holidays for people to see as they drive by.

I have to share this, just because we laughed forever about it.  It was hands down the funniest part of the night...and even funnier if you know my seemingly innocent grandparents. (WARNING..it will most likely be offensive to some people).  Maddie loves to crack nuts with my grams.  We were at her house a few weeks ago and they cracked nuts for a long time, and have done it a few more times since.  They were cracking more nuts tonight.  My grams, bless her heart, is VERY forgetful and repeats herself constantly and sometimes doesn't realize what she is saying.  She was cracking Brazil nuts with Maddie and said, "Maddie, do you know what we used to call these nuts when I was growing up?"  Of course Maddie is stumped.  "Nigger toes."  We laughed and prayed Maddie hadn't recorded that to memory to go repeating to and Steve said "where do these nuts come from anyways."  Gramps had to add to the laugh and said, "the niggers raise them."  I almost choked on my cookie while almost peeing in my pants.  If you haven't ever seen a Brazil nut with the shell, here is the picture.  No wonder they were called "nigger toes" back in the day.
